INNOVATION DINNER
Design using bacteria?
PHA: A REVOLUTION IN BIO BASED MATERIALS
What if materials could grow, instead of being manufactured?
We are surrounded by living systems, yet most of what we build remains static.
We would like to invite you to an intimate dinner exploring a new generation of materials that grow rather than are produced from chemicals.
PHA is a bio-based material created through microbial processes: fully biodegradable, yet capable of becoming a solid, designed form.
First presented at Milan Design Week 2025 as a bespoke ‘lamp made from bacteria’, produced by 3DMZ, it is now emerging as a unique material for designers and architects.
We have been working hands-on with PHA in large-scale 3D printing to understand how it behaves in practice. This evening is a chance to experience it directly.
